Khazad Ibizan Hounds, then and now.

Ibizan Hounds, the clowns of the dog world!

A bit about us here at Khazad!

Khazad started out as Prairie Sighthounds back in 1994 with the arrival of our very first 2 smooth coated Ibizans.  Both were heavily shown and lure coursed and finished their AKC SC and their ASFA FCh titles with me before going on to new homes.  Next came our first wire coated Ibizan "Mecca" in 1996.  She was a dream bitch from Gryphon Ibizans, and Sue Fegan.  Mecca was the dam of my first and so far (as of 2013) only litter.  She was minor AKC pointed and easily finished her IABCA show titles with a Group 1st.

We took a major break from dog shows, and coursing. Over 10yrs later we are coming back into the dog realm. Along with this new start, is a new kennel name, thus, Khazad! We hope to step back into not only the show ring, but our first love....lure coursing!  We may even try our paws at obedience and agility some day.

We show our dogs in several show venues (AKC, UKC & IABCA), as well as lure course them via AKC & ASFA.  We prefer UKC shows as they are less stressful and much more family friendly.  We encourage all our show puppy buyers to do more than just AKC shows.  Puppies sold as pets are highly encouraged to try lure coursing.  It's a great way to enjoy time with their family.

All our breeding stock are health tested for hearing (BAER), eyes (CERF/OFA), thyroid, hips and elbows at minimum.  Seizures are a concern in this breed, but as of yet there is no way to test for carriers/affected. We will do our best to have all puppies BAER hearing tested as well as eyes checked before they go to their new homes.

If you are interested in a puppy from us, please fill out the puppy questionnaire .  All pups are sold with a contract. Pet quality pups will be sold on limited registration. We no longer ship puppies alone due to new USDA regulations.  We require pups to be picked up in person, or we can help find friends to caravan a pup to it's new home.  Depending on location we could possibly deliver a pup to new home.
